About the author

Gayle was born in Saskatchewan, grew up in Alberta, and has lived her adult life in British Columbia. After more than thirty years as an insurance adjuster, she retired to her small horse farm, Idyllbeck, on Vancouver Island.

Gayle has written dozens of short stories, novellas, and novels for readers of all ages. Novels often began as short stories; when the characters took on a life of their own, they morphed into full-length thrillers. They always feature strong female protagonists (they may not start out strong, but grow through adversity) and owing to her rural roots and life-long love of horses, you can usually find a horse or two. And naturally, there has to be a good-looking cowboy somewhere.

Gayle’s love of horses began early; when she was eight, her grandfather “gave” her Bimbo. As a teenager, her family moved from Regina to Calgary; Bimbo was left behind, and Morning came into her life.  Over time, a few other horses came and went. She rode and showed in various disciplines, finally settling on dressage. After more than twenty years as a “dressage queen” who never reached “queen” status, she impulsively bought a used western saddle at a tack sale and now happily plunks around the ring at walk, jog and lope on her current horse, a sweet warmblood mare named Nakida.
